To ensure consistent high product quality is one of the key advantages of the continuous extrusion of battery masses and compounds by a twin screw extruder. Active materials, binding agents, conductive carbon and liquids are used as raw materials. These are fed either via independent feeders or premixes.
Lead acid battery and lithium-ion battery separator material goes into automotive, forklift, golf cart and many other industrial batteries. Lead acid battery separators are made by mixing a specialty grade of amorphous silica, ultra-high molecular weight PE(UHMWPE), silica, oil, antioxidant and a few other ingredients in smaller quantities, then pushing the mixture through a die with a twin screw extruder.
